About Me

Elisse Kleiner is a flautist from Melbourne, Australia.

Elisse has performed, taught, lived and breathed music across the UK, Australia, Europe and Canada.

She studied flute with Jaime Martin and Paul Edmund-Davies at the Royal College of Music in London, UK, graduating in 2007 with first class Honours. She has toured three times through Europe and the Mediterranean as flautist with the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra.

Elisse is part of the Classical Revolution movement – an international conspiracy designed to surprise and delight people across the world through the power of classical music, with chamber music performances in unusual spaces – cafes, bars, galleries, warehouses, etc.  In 2009, she brought Classical Revolution to Australia, launching monthly chamber music sight-reading jams at a Melbourne pub, and raising money for the Australian Children’s Music Foundation. In May that year, she staged a one-off performance of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony in the pub, involving 30 of Australia’s top young musicians.

Awarded scholarships to participate in the Fall 2008, Fall 2009 and Winter 2010 Creative Residencies at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, Elisse collaborated with amazing artists from all around the world. There she met pianist Rosabel Choi and bassist Jake Koufman Leckie, and together they began the ensemble The Mash Potangos. The trio have since performed together in Toronto, Montreal and Banff, and have worked with a number of fantastic coaches, collaborative musicians and dance professionals.

Childhood music education is one of Elisse’s deep passions. She has been involved in a broad range of educational projects in England, Spain, Australia, Canada and South America. In 2010, she travelled to Venezuela to study El Sistema – the “system” which uses childhood musical education as a tool for social change – that is currently transforming the country. Elisse now works as National Program Manager for Sistma Australia.

Elisse has an unrivaled passion for chocolate.
